Hi all, Back from New York safe & sound, although watching the the plane that crashed into the Hudson river as we waited for our transport to JFK for our flight home was not making me feel all that comfortable with getting on the plane home. TG everyone got out ok. Had a great time in NY even though we were like 2 Popsicles most of the time. s394.photobucket.com/albums/pp29/mbwl/must have walked miles (every day). Saw all the sights & even walked across the Brooklyn Bridge (beautifull views but f**g freezing.) Went out to 1 or 2 or 3 different bars every night. The last night we found a couple of bars that had some great music, & stayed up a little late, good thing our flight was not until the evening I will have to go back again (with sisters or gfs) to do some serious shopping. Mattie.

Yea we got to see lots of tourist things, but no shopping (well what I call shopping). The Subway system was great & easy to follow we only took a yellow cab on the last night just cos we thought we should do it at least once. We stayed at a hotel in the middle of Manhattan, & we traveled from one end to the other (Brooklyn to Harlem) & walked everywhere in between, the most memorable place was the chapel by the WTC site, all the personal messages, teddy bears, badges, & the peacefulness of the chapel itself. Only thing was we couldn't stay longer, would have been great to be there for President Obama's Inauguration.

Your trip sounds wonderful! Were you scared at all of being mugged or anything? You sound in your description very comfortable with the city. I'm really glad you got to have a great experience with pictures to remember it by.

No we never felt scared or anything, always felt comfortable, but we always knew where we were going & how to get there (generally)& people were v. friendly if they saw u looking at a map & we were offered help & directions from people wherever we were. I found it a v. friendly city. I'm going back sometime.

Mattie, I am very glad to hear that about New York. You hear so much about how people ignore you and how New Yorkers are rude. It is nice to hear that is not the case. I hope I make it there someday. After hearing your experience, I want to go even more.
