Richie is definately a good looking man but he's been looking a little pale to me lately. Anyone else notice? He might need a relaxing vacation. I think it is the colour *black* that makes him looking pale. He should have take another colour for his clothes  |

my timing was great. I got up 4am and I could watch the performance. But I should have read the announcements earlier better, it says always it will be a medley. and no wonder 80% of the world didn't think about BJ as a band, they showed mostly JBJ - again. ok, i have to go to work now www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCotDNq7dTk |

Love Stephanie's shoes. *G* Richie sort of had that pants-up-to-his-armpits thing going on, or maybe it's just that I'm so used to seeing him with his shirts untucked. I agree he looks pale. I hope he gets some rest in the next couple of weeks!

That was interesting. Jon looked amazing. Richie looked happy and good. David looked pissed. Performance was ok. The audience was dead at the start, I think that played into how Jon went forward. JN singing Prayer, not right. lol

I thought the performance was good, still not liking Richie's hair though lol. David did look like he really didn't want to be there lol. And Jennifer was ok w/WSYCGH but I don't really like her on prayer and it really irritates me when she points to Jon and says BON JOVI! Was a bit disappointed that they didn't play always. Of course I love Prayer, but I've seen them do that a million times would have been nice to have seen something they don't do that often.

For me, what I finally put my finger on about it was that they sure didn't seem like they were having any fun. Their concert performances are so full of energy, you can tell they are loving what they are doing, and it just wasn't there for that kind of performance. David definitely looked like someone peed in his cornflakes!

I think you hit it, Caro. They didn't look like they were having fun. But, everyone was just sitting there politely and listening. Nobody was "into" it. I saw them bopping along to Michael Jackson and Pink and even Gaga.... Jon gives back what he gets. He got no love, showed none back.
And shouldn't David be smiling all the time?! I mean, isn't he getting married soon?

In all the pics I've seen of Jon this week he's looked weary. Even the ones with Dot & Steph, though he was smiling and obviously very proud, he just looked like he wanted to do nothing more than get away from the cameras and go crawl into bed. Wonder if he's not feeling well, or he's feeling the pre-tour stress, or if he was just smacked in the face with major jetlag after gallavanting around Germany. And no red carpet before the Grammys? I was surprised--that's major free PR for a band about ready to launch a world tour. As a headliner for the telecast, they were sure low-key in the pre-show festivities. They all looked fabulous during the performance, but that's with the aid of stage makeup and dramatic lighting. Richie sure was the only one who looked like he was even moderately enjoying himself. Jon was clearly just going through the motions, even though he certainly wasn't bad. He seemed to be drawing his energy from Jennifer once she bounced out onto the stage. Hmmm. Hope all is okay with personal stuff. Not that I'm suggesting anything's not.... but I was at the show four years ago tomorrow (2/2/06) when Richie found out about 2 hours before going onstage that Heather was filing for divorce. Talk about an angry vibe running through THAT show.... it was still a great concert, but for those of us who knew what a "normal" Jovi show is like, it was a dark, dark night. Will never forget that one -- Jon barely spoke at all, was throwing water bottles around the stage, did a TON of acoustic stuff, dedicated IBTFY to Richie... and every shot of Richie's left hand there was just a dent where his wedding band used to be. *shudder* Hope they just need a long nap!  |

Glad to see someone found a red carpet interview, i was disapponted that E didnt get anything with them last night. David seemed fine on the carpet so maybe all is well with him.
I think you hit the nail on the head about them looking like they werent having fun. Maybe everyone was just pissed off because Pink splashed everyone...lol.
Catte, interesting info about the show 4 years ago, i had never heard about that ..thanks. From what you describe with the water bottles it sounds like Jon was pissed enough for the both of them...wow!

I'm hoping that it was just the lack of enthusiasm from the crowd...and maybe not winning (although I don't think any of us expected them to win). Couple things I did notice....I was surprised that Jesse wasn't there when Stephanie was and...Jon wasn't wearing his wedding ring which is a little unusual for a performance like that - not that I think anything is wrong there (especially since she was with him the day before and everyone looked happy), I just though it was a little odd. I was surprised about the non red carpet too....Johnny in a bad mood?
Maybe there were issues backstage.

I noticed the absence of wedding ring too, but just figured he took it off for whatever reason... have seen him do appearances without it before, and he was wearing it during rehearsal. He certainly hasn't looked happy all week. I'm thinking its more to do with all the crap they must be going through with tour time so close; probably had to do a lot of shit for the promoter (AEG was all over the place) and all the things he looooooves to do so much. Maybe he finally just put his foot down and said "Fuck That" to the Red Carpet crap and sent Richie & Dave out to do the deed, lol! Maybe Jesse didn't wanna come along, or maybe this was the special Daddy-Daughter treat before he heads out on the road again. Or maybe Jess was grounded, LOL!  Whatever it is... hope he gets a nap. I wanna see Happy Energizer Bunny Jonny in Vegas!!! |

He came out for first song (Last Man Standing) and just looked PISSED. My GF and I looked at each other and went WTF??? We hadn't heard about Richie yet, but first shot of his ringless hand on the big screen we were like "WHOA!" Richie didn't really seem to act all that different other than really into the music, but Jon was quite emotive. He spent a lot of time at the mic with Richie, a couple times said "Hang in There, Brother," and was just in general NOT happy. The encore was only 2 songs, and it was like Jon couldn't get out of there fast enough. He was basically like "thanks for coming, good night," and that was it. Sure enough, as we waited for the crowd to die down to leave, my GF pulls out her phone and looks at the news, and there's the headline about Heather. We just stared at each other. It was just unreal. NOT the kinda memory you want from a Jovi show! But we were pretty damned impressed that the show was as great as it was, considering.... |

Oh crap, I'll never remember all the details.
I just remember when I was in the fan club, there was a thread about something that happened years ago. It was some event with a bunch of bands including Green Day. Billie Joe was pissed that Bon Jovi went last, he thought GreenDay was bigger than Bon Jovi & should've been the "headliner". Something like that.
Hope my bad memory helped a little. lol .
