I'm a little bit shaken up, I have to admit. When I looked out of my window this morning and I saw a huge swastika on the snowed covered area in front of my apartment building!!
I can't believe it!. It's about five meters wide and long! I always new I live in a city where some people are thinking the Nazis did good, but I was never confronted directly with it. Unbelievable!
I called the town clerk's office (not sure the translation is correct...Ordnungsamt for the Germans), they are sending someone over who will destroy it and will inform the police.
The guy I was talking to, was very happy that I informed him. Doesn't seem common here. Again unbelievable!!

Police car just stopped and they crossed the lawn a couple times. Now you can no longer tell immediately that it is a swastika. For them it seemed important to destroy the sign and not to remove it. I'm curious whether something else will happen.

thats really unbelievable, but it happen too often here in Germany. I'm so proud of all the thousands of people last weekend in Dresden, they stopped a Nazi-deployment.

WOW! It's unbelievable the things that still happen in this world. I'm glad you called the police/clerk. The people that did it can't be too brave or proud if they did it in the middle of the night. I'm concerned it was in front of your building and concerned for you. Take care my friend and be safe. I hope that nothing else does happen and that's the end of it.

I'm more concerned about the elementary school and youth club (both about 200 meters away from my apartment building) , which is visited especially by kids who are from another country. Let's face it...those idiots would go for a teenager from the Club then a blond blue eyed girl like me. I'm still pissed about it!! Something is definitly going wrong in history education in our schools!!!

Come to think of it...I can understand why David chose to change his last name..... I still have memories from my childhood...of being teased and sometimes hit because of my ethnicity... I am so greatfull that my parents had the strength and courage to bring me to US! I frequently remind my own children of how fortunate and priviledged they are to be American born citizens...

And Kris, GREAT JOB!!!!! You ROCK!!!! Thanks. If someone someday figurs out what's going on in the heads of those idiots, maybe he/she can explain it to me. I don't get it! I never mind what religion, skin color or political view someone else has. Everybody is different, the world would be sad and boring if everybody would be the same. Accept how some else is or lives and be accepted the same way. That's how my parents raised me and that's how we dealed with it at school. We were 100 students in my year...and we were a wild mixture from all over the world and that made it interesting...we had kids from Pakistan, Tunisia, Bulgaria, Poland, Russia, from Hong Kong, Brasil, Norway, France, The Netherland, England and Albania...well, we were the United Nations
