Thank you, Obie! You're my Hero (a Madrid review, kind of) I went to the promo show in Madrid on Saturday. It was a pretty spontaneously decision in view of the short time from ticket selling to the show. But I don't regret going to Madrid. My friends and I arrived late Friday night and it was almost 1am when we finally reached our hotel. At this time almost 50 people camped out at the venue. We decided to sleep in a real bed , and the next morning around 10:30 we went to the theater and got our numbers (126-128). It was ok for us, we knew already from pictures how small the venue is. But we were afraid about the whole list/number thing, because there came more and more people and stayed between all of us with numbers. And those people doesn't care what we all said about our system. They refused even to step back a few because security want to make space on the walkway for people who only want to pass the line. The same at the box office, when we stayed there in line to pick up our tickets. The security there only want to open the doors, so we had to go back few steps. I didn't understand, why people there were so stubborn, no one would loose the spot in the line. But maybe it is the Spanish mentality Luckily few minutes before they opened the doors to the venue, Security was able to clear the line and then it was easy and relaxed. But then, when we came to ticket/security check, the next problem was there. The security guy said, I can't take my camera inside. Because the cam were too good!! Huhh?? it is a good cam, no question, but not that good. There are already newer and better ones on the market. and my friend, who has the same camera and was right behind me could pass the check without a problem. I tired to explain it, but either the security people there couldn't understand me or wouldn't. so I gave up and brought the cam to the coat-room, because I wanted to go in and see the show. Understandable my mood wasn't the best, although I had a great spot about 4./5. row in front of Richies microphone. then I decided to forgot it all and to enjoy the show, although I like to take pics and share them with all of you. We were sitting on the floor and waited for the show to start when Obie showed up there. I didn't see him first, so a big thank you to my friend Sandy who told it to me. I thought now or never, went to Obie and asked him to help me. He wanted to know what kind of camera I have and where I had to leave this. I could assure him it is not a SLR and I never use flash at a concert, of course. (who is taking pics at concerts know that flash is useless). He said I should follow him and we went to the place where I left my cam. He said to the woman there she should give him my cam, we went back inside the venue and there Obie gave me my cam back and a guitar pic from Richie, too. I promised him again not to use flash and thanked him for helping me. I was so happy at this moment it doesn't came in my mind to ask him for a picture like a lot of fans there. Ok, then the show started. The crowd was frenetic, you could barely hear the intro of the first song. So it take a little while for me to realize what song they played. And I couldn't believe it, I never heard it live and I can't remember the band played it. It was amazing, just this one song was it worth for me to go to Madrid. Then Bad Name, Follow, LH, IML - the audience was singing and dancing, the floor was vibrating. And we knew every word of the verses. WDYG is life absolutely great, much better than in the radio. WWWB, I love this song, too. And then the BonJovi anthem - Wanted, we sang all verses. Who says, thats the only song they could skip from the setlist, I can't stand it anymore. But I think it won't happen *sigh*. But then KTF with Sympathy for edvil, I hope someone has filmed this and it will be on youtube soon. Then Jon started with Prayer and when you thought the crowd couldn't get more frenetic then you should have seen the people when Rihanna came on stage. I thought they would blow the roof away. And for that kind of surprises I love the band. After a short break the guys came back for the encore - HAND, it is always great to hear that song live. And then Bad Medicine with (in my opinion unplanned) Pretty Woman and Shout in it. And then the show was over. Sure, I would have love it when they would have played a bit more. But I didn't expect much more, the band was here in Europe to promote the Greatest Hits and the shows next summer. I'm glad I did the weekend trip to Madrid and did I mention that I love Obie Setlist: 1 Not Fade Away 2 Bad Name 3 We Weren't Born To Follow 4 Lost Highway 5 It's My Life 6 What Do You Got 7 When We Were Beautiful 8 Wanted 9 Who Says You Cant Go Home 10 Keep The Faith / Sympathy For The Devil 11 Livin' On A Prayer Encore: 12 Have A Nice Day 13 Bad Medicine / Pretty Woman / Shout

uuumhh, yes...I think you said you love Obbie, and ...maybe are you changing your love for Richie? ;D naaaah, just joking... Fantastic experience Rike. I must to say that Spanish people are really stubborn, even among them, nothing to do with other's countries people, but yes, sometimes (and security guys are really idiots the most of them...) people don't understand that nobody wants to steal them anything, even the spot in the line. On the other hand, there are a polemic war here about the show. I knew that they came for promoting the GH and next summer tour. And a "private concert" (as it was announced here) is a short concert, not more than half and an hour more or less, people wanted a three hours show!!! If you really know Bon Jovi, you know what expect about a show like that. It's stupid to complain about the duration when you have the opportunity to see them so close!!! I would had been in glory if I had been there!!! I'm happy you, Rike, enjoyed the show, and I'm sure it was worth for you and the most of people who came from the rest of Europe. Each day I'm more convinced that I'm an adopted chid....I always feel embarrased for my compatriots behaviour..(security guys, you IDIOTS!! they think they are God...) by the way...did you see all the VIP's at the show? It is said that there were people in full dress...
