Or at least I'm trying to and not doing to bad, although I really want a cig as I'm typing this...but its almost 7am and I'm not in the mood to drive to get any cigs, besides the fact that I am determined to do this!
I actually "Quit" a couple weeks ago, but then Terri and Lori and I went to lula, MS. to a Tracy Byrd concert last weekend at the Isle of capri casino and well....lets just say I fell off the wagon lol
But I got right back on the wagon on Monday and have been pretty good...only having 1 possibly 2 cigs a day all week. This weekend though I have not had any cigs yet and it is hard, but it helps that no one smokes here and Terri and Randi are a big help. I proclaimed last night that I wanted a cig and Randi , bless her heart, (the southern phrases are rubbing off on me lol) ran over with the bag of suckers I bought myself to have when I'm really craving a cig, and Terri offered me one of her lil straws she used to get over her cig cravings when she was quitting, but I think all I needed was to just say out loud Dammit ! I want a cig...kinda why I'm babbling on here with no apparent direction lmao.
So anyway....Ive gotten over this craving so I'll stop babbling....for now lol

Good! Really good! Are you already eating sweets? When my father quit smoking he started eating sweets a lot, was probably a substitute, the problem: he gained wait...so my little advice when you start eating sweets, do some extra hours on your cross trainer!

cross trainer....uh yeah...I'll have to get one of those first lmao. The only sweets I've had are the suckers and I usually only have one or two of those a day, but come to think of it I have been craving chocolate and other snacks so I guess when I get this quitting smoking licked...I'll start my diet lmao.

Well Lucy try gum, thats what I used as a sub I went from 20 a day to nothing, that was twentyish yrs ago. Trust me its worth it, food tastes better after a few months, your clothes wont smell and physically your health improves especially breathing wise. I have every confidence you'll quit completely ;D

I'm rooting for you. I know it is hard.
Have you tried the patch or even nicotine gum? I have heard it works, although I never used it.
I quit before they came out with that stuff. Back then, I used a diversion technique with a rubberband. I had a rubberband on my wrist and whenever I wanted a cigarette or craved one, I would snap my wrist with that, which does hurt by the way, and it put a negative with the craving so that eventually I didn't crave anymore. Also, if I was ever out in public like you said at lula, MS, and I would relapse or even put a cigarette in my mouth, I had a friend that would walk over to me and just take the cigarette out of my mouth and break it in two. I got really pissed at him for wasting my cigarettes, but he kept doing it and eventually it worked and I didn't want a cigarette when I was out like that anymore.
My way of doing things was unconventional to say the least and not what people normally do, but it worked for me.
I really hope you can kick the habit. Like Kissthis said, you will feel so much better after you have. Good Luck and keep at it. Never give up! Like Jon says, "If you fall you pick yourself, dust yourself off, and you do it again". So, If you fall off the wagon, you start all over again and keep trying.

I've tried both the patches and the gum other times I tried to quit and they just don't work for me. The patches just made my arm itch and the gum I just wanted to keep chewing, which you're not suppose to do, but it bugged me keeping it between my cheek and my gums so I'm trying it this way and its working better the the other times I think b/c this time I am actually determined to quit. I haven't had a cig since friday, and they say it takes 3 days to get over the physical addiction part which if thats the case I should be over that by tomorrow...hopefully I won't 100 lbs of food before I'm over the mental part of it lmao.

Good for you ;D All I can say is to keep trying, my hubby gave them up years ago after many failed attempts LOL, but he finally did it & no more clothes/car/home smelling of cigs. He now hates the smell of cigs. KTF you will succeed. Mattie

Good for you, Lucy! I'm so proud of you. Both my parents and my brother gave them up. Brother did b/c he had a mass in his lung that scared the shit out of him (turned out to be pneumonia, which was a relief ~ very weird to type that lol) , Mom gave them up for lent one year and never went back, and Daddy did when I told him he'd never see his grandson if he didn't. You do what you have to to keep on the wagon. T will keep you on the straight and narrow

Whooo hoooo, good for you Lucy. Wish I could get my hub to quit. My dad did it on a bet about 20 years ago now and my MIL did it two years ago after her open-heart surgery.
Like Hath, I'm proud of you and I know you'll stay away from them, T will see to that too!!
Good for you!!

I lost my Mother a few months before Richie lost his dad to lung cancer.
I pray that no one has to go through what my mom did. She didn't even live a year after being told she had it.
I can still remember the day the doctor came in and told me she had two live cells and three dead ones. I asked him what her chances were and he told me not good. You know they tell you when you get that feeling like the world had dropped out of your body...well it really happens. Stunned, shock, being pissed at God, blaming the tobbaco companies, down to wondering what I did wrong. I had just lost my dad three years earlier to Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, now i was losing my Mom.
If just the though of what you might have to go through doesn't scare you to quit, if you have kids, think of what they have to go though if you do get cancer.
Okay getting off soap box. All I can say is Please Quit!
Alice Faye

Matty, the dreaded kay-kays are delicious, sinfully fattening doughnuts. Like Dunkin Donuts around most places in the State, but BETTER. lol

I would already be happy about a Dunkin Donuts OR Starbucks in this fucking city. Starbucks is 300 km away (about 187 miles) and Dunkin Donuts 200 km (about 125 miles)...*sad*
