;)just couldn't resist the thread title ;D
Ok so here's my story......
Last night at the George Street Playhouse there was a CD signing event scheduled and I knew about it. I knew David was going to be there and I really wanted to go. Wasnt crazy about the thought of driving over the George Washington bridge (it's insane) or going by myself but then I figured What the Hell and reminded myself that "You Can't Win Until You're Not Afraid To Lose" - so I did it. I lied at work and told them a story about why I needed to leave early so I was able to get out at 4pm. Armed with Tommy my sexy GPS guy I set out on the Lost Highway
When I got there they had me fill out a card for a door prize which I was sure I wouldn't win ::)and then I went in. It’s a small the theatre and it was not even 1/2 full - not that many people at all (probably not 100) I was able to sit right up front and it was freakin awesome!!!!!
David came out in all his Rock Star Hotness :Pand just ooozzed SEXY!!! Him and Joe DiPetro who has a blog that I have been following came out with another guy and sat at a table on the small stage.
Anyway they start with a Q&A session which was fun. Most questions were good but there are always idiots in the crowd and someone actually asked David why he doesn’t join a band like BonJovi #thinking# and I'm sitting there wanting to scream at this F@ckin Moron David looked perplexed and the other guys handled the idiot well and let him know just who David really is
David comfirmed that Jon had indeed seen the show on opening night in NYC and the other gay guy at the table audibly gasped and ahhhed when Jon's name was mention to which David just cracked up . :DDavid also confirmed that the new album will be released in the FALL #rockon2# And they also said that the new play that David and Joe are working on which is Memphis will be on Broadway in October - #biggrin#
Ok so then - David gets up and goes to the piano and actually sings "You Tore My Heart Out" and I'm sitting there thinking HOLY SH!T!!!! - It was awesome and yep I did video it for your viewing pleasure
Then he went back to the table and they talked some more to us and then they did the door prize drawing. They said they were pulling 3 names and giving away a poster and t-shirt as the prizes. To my utter amazement I actually won - Then they announce that David is going to sing another song So back to the piano he goes and proceeds to charm us with "It's A Brand New Day In New Jersey" and yep I got the vid of this one for you too So AMAZING!!!!!
Then David went back to the table and they announce that David and Joe will do autographs now. Everyone lines up and they spend as much time as need to make sure everyone got anything and everything they wanted signed. I decided to get my new poster signed and the cd too. ;D
I was really surprised that not too many people were asking for pictures but the few that were had just stood by David who was sitting up on a dias - but that was about to change While I waited in line I asked the woman behind me if she would take my pic if I could get them to agree. Since I have been so addicted to Jpe's blog & I had introduced myself to him when we saw the show in NYC and he was really so nice and friendly.
I really did want a pic with him too, so when I got up there I asked David if I could get a pic and he said Sure then I asked if would it be ok if I came up there and got between him and Joe? Joe heard this and seemed surprised but really cool with it too. David said "Yeah no problem just be careful because it's a high step up and there are wires"and that's when he held out his hand to me and while I stepped up Anyway while I was there I told them both that I had seen the play twice - once at that theatre and once in NYC. Then I told Joe about following his blog and he started saying how much fun he had doing it. It was so Cool because it wasnt rushed at all - They were both so nice and took the time to actually talk to me :-*But by now the pic was taken, my stuff was signed and I didnt want to overstay my welcome so I thanked them and they thanked me for coming. Now I have to go back down the way I came and sure enough David gives me his hand again to help me step down
Ok so by now I have this major adrenaline rush surging through my body and I just knew I wasnt getting in the car to drive 2 hours home just yet - so I sat back down to chill a bit and just watched the rest of the people get there stuff signed - anyway sure enough I must have had a good idea because from that point on several more people asked to have pics taken But I never saw David put his hand out to help anyone else up - LOL (or at least that's how I choose to remember it in the happy place in my mind) but now that I think of it he probably ended up cursing me out for having the idea in the first place
By now things were wrapping up but I still hung around - I was able to talk a bit more to Joe (I love him) and got to actually meet his dog Rocco who often was subject matter for the blog so that was cool too
David was done signing stuff but was talking to someone so I waited until he was done and then I walked up because he was just standing there and no one else had approached yet - I then mentioned that I had been at the Tribeca premiere and he said "Really? What'd ya think? “I told him that I loved it and thought it was genuine - serious and funny at the same time. I told him that I thought the B&W was perfect” He anodded and then said "Thank you". At that point I was one of the few people left and again didn’t want to overstay so I told him that this had been fun and I thanked him for doing it - and then I left with my dignity in tact and a fantastic experience to put in the scrapbook!!!!
I know this post is kind of long but I didnt want to leave anything out ;D
Here the pics and vids I promised!!!!
