This was in my Google Alerts today. I'm hoping it's not true because it just doesn't seem right that Jon would givehis time up for a politician (who is probably on the take somewhere like all politicans are) but would do something for the troops who are putting their lives on the line (regardless of what you think about the war, they are still brave young men). What do you think? www.nj.com/parenting/kate_krier/index.ssf/2009/06/jon_bon_jovi_refuses_to_play_f.html

Yeah I got this google alert too - I think that all they will report is that he declined to participate, which of course means that he is Anti-American, doesnt support the troops and is an all around loser however I'd be willing to bet he had to decline and it's with good reason - Of course they wont mention that he probably has 10 other obligations already booked. No, they wont say anything like that because that wouldn't be "mud slinging news" worthy!!!! It's that whole What Have You Done For Me Lately attitude. It doesnt matter what he's done in the past, that's forgotten - now let's just beat him up because he had to pass on this one event. This kind of stuff pisses me off - >:(can you tell

He has been a great supporter of our troops. He played the commander in chief ball at the inauguration and even spoke with Katie Couric about spending a couple of hours talking with the troops after his performance. He even recognized the soldier that was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame the same night he was in his speech by saying "I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Brian Brennan for exemplifying all that NJ is all about". So, to say he is against the troops or anti-American is very unfair. I think he had other commitments that prevented him from participating, and whoever wrote this was looking for a reason to bash Jon and sling mud.

I'm glad my immediate reaction was the same as yours, that he was probably already busy because we all know how the man never stops working!

I don't know for sure.....but is it the same day as the 9/11 thing? That's for charity....notice in all the bitching in those comments no one is mentioning the 9/11 thing for charity....the honoring of THOSE Americans. He has to turn down (and there's no doubt in my mind that it was a HAS to case) because he was already committed else where and they've got him labeled as a bad American. Gimme a break!

The 9/11 thing is on the 8th, this thing is on the 12th. That being said, he can't be everywhere, can he? I mean, he's not coming to OUR parade here in my town; does that make him a bad person? No, it makes him an overextended person. And for cripe's sake, he can't do everything. He can certainly feel for the soldiers and be glad they're home, but hell, he doesn't HAVE to do anything any more than the author of that article has to do anything. Is she baking cupcakes? Writing welcome-home cards for everyone? No? She must be a commie who hates America.

All I can really say here is what all of you have already said, he can't be everywhere! Maybe if he cloned himself, but I'm not sure we're ready for more than one Jon Bon Jovi!
Give the man a break already, jeez!
